Mary Scheidegger
A LITTLE ABOUT MARY:
As owner of WordArt WebArtistry, I have specialized in helping businesses and organizations locally, across Canada and overseas establish/enrich their online presence – since 1997. From the initial personal, friendly conversation identifying and evaluating existing and future needs, I work closely with each client (the decision-makers and the admin/users) to identify they unique needs, envision, design and finally develop customized, effective online marketing strategies.
A website is only part of a good overall marketing strategy… my job is to make sure your web-presence enhances and enriches your goals (the ”call to action”). To do that, we will take some time getting to know each other, so I can fully understand you and your business/organization. Once we understand the purpose of your website (and yes, each website is unique in it’s purpose), my favourite task begins! We is bring that vision to fruition in an attractive and useful way.
Experience! I have an Associate of Communications. My entire career (and I am old, don’t you know) I have been designing and creating using digital technology (I used to save my files onto 8-inch floppy disks, using DOS commands!). I was online transmitting files to locations around the world via the Internet before the World Wide Web was even invented, while working for the United Nations/World Health Organization in one of the IT departments. In fact, the WWW was just a twinkle in it’s daddy’s eye (a scientist at CERN) just a km or so down the road from where I worked in Geneva.
Back in here Canada, I published my first website in the spring of 1995, and have been designing and publishing online ever since! My portfolio reflects only some of the websites I have developed over the years. Please take a look. Passionate about this technology and the incredible opportunities perpetually revealing themselves, I stay current with emerging technology/trends — not because I have to, but because I love it!
I find tremendous reward in helping others succeed — indeed WordArt’s motto is “we succeed by helping others succeed” – and so, I offer one-on-one consulting as well as workshops for small groups.
Community Coming from a long line of volunteers and community-minded ancestry, I can’t even imagine not giving back to my world. I am an active Rotarian and sit on the board of the Shuswap Women in Business. I believe strongly in the value of literacy at all ages, and as “the Booklady” I founded and run the “Books for Kids” program and am a member of the Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS). Every year I volunteer at the Roots & Blues music festival, and for many many years sat on school parent councils (representing SD83 district provincially).
In 2009 I was very honoured and deeply humbled to have been acknowledged as Shuswap Woman of the Year, in recognition of my contributions to my community and my professional successes. Wow…. blown away.
Spare time? You bet there is spare time and here’s what I do to for fun. I practice yoga regularly, I belly-dance in the winter, and play soccer in the spring. As soon as it’s warm enough, I am on the water kayaking and I dragonboat with the Dr’Agonize team. I enjoy photography and travel … neither of which do often enough!
I would highly recommend Mary. Her work ethic is top notch. She is dedicated to her clients, her family and her community. I have worked with Mary both professionally and she has been a client of mine. I have also sat on committee's with Mary and her dedication shows in everything she does. If you want the job done and done right, Mary is your gal. –Dianne Parnell, Owner/Operator, Harmony Holistics
